A Summer Fruit & Sugar Sweetness

This is my favorite fruit. Apart from mangoes. I should say one of my favorite fruits. It is a delight to be able to speak about this because I know my taste buds can't really get away from this little red, green stamen intact, budding flower turned fruit reality. Given it looks aesthetically pleasing and cute. Even the oversized ones.
I just appreciate this fruit. Can you tell by my excitement?
"Some dreams don't come true in childhood, but they show up sweetly in adulthood-in a bowl of strawberries and sugar."
The Snack That Feels Like a Wish Come True
As a child, I dreamed of strawberries but rarely tasted them. I am fond of the fruit's cuteness and the aesthetics it brings.
Growing up I look to everything pink, red, and strawberry flavors. What has an aroma of the fruit, whatever that is, that I can tangibly smell, feel, and see in my possession. I was mostly upset if I can't get my hand on either be it strawberry flavored candies, strawberry shortcake school gear, or a strawberry little girl backpack. I guess that makes sense if I liked strawberries and strawberry-colored things.
Since my grandfather has lots of land turned into a farm, (I am a country girl just so you know). I imagined growing them on our family farm-rows of red, sun-kissed fruit just for me! And I pictured myself a happy little girl. In the strawberry patch picking the berries.
Correct me if I am wrong back in the day when I was about, um, roughly can say, age four or five there's probably not a chance to grow strawberries in the Philippines. I know now as an adult it is a summer fruit through reading articles about strawberries. I believe as far as a child's brain can comprehend, I might have thought, "strawberries cannot be found." Adult wise, a market for this fruit is scarce at that time, maybe?
I wouldn't know what the reason is, but in the recesses of my brain as far as I can remember there aren't fresh strawberries that I could find.
There was strawberry jam. But no fresh produce.

As an adult, I savor strawberries and sugar combo like a quiet celebration! A snack worth waiting for.
Grocery Store Gold: Why I Never Miss Them
These days, strawberries are impossible to miss at the store-and I never pass them by without thinking and remembering how I liked them. I still do now.
I usually buy the already frozen pack for my protein shake smoothies. Together with bananas and sometimes spinach without the protein powder though when adding spinach.
There's something healing about buying what once felt out of reach. Not taking you to my dreamland, I love strawberries dipped with caster sugar. They are my personal version of "strawberries and cream".
I smell the aroma of sweetness in my palate, feel the crunch of more sweetness. Indeed, a taste to my liking. I say, my favorite snack.
From Daydream to Desserts: My Growing Strawberry List
This might be a starting point of my hobby obsession of collecting recipes.
I love spying online for new ideas whether I want to do it just like it or inspired by the recipe. Meaning a little mod is in order. Especially the cakes.
When I can't sleep, this is where you can find me baking in the kitchen.
Sorry, dad it is proven. I left you the dishes and baking pans to wash when I go to sleep and you and everyone in the house is up and awake. Hi hi!
I keep growing stash of recipes I want to try-from tarts to frozen bites. In fact, I made my own recipe of moist strawberry cake with walnuts and cream cheese frosting that I experimented into a three-layer cake. I was inspired of the fruit of course but inspired by thinking outside the box imagining, "what would it look like if I make this cupcake a three-layer strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting. The walnuts are just added in for texture.
My dream? A crafty baking day just for strawberry dessert making (yes, with music and aprons!).
Taste That Change, Joy That Grows
I for now have gotten into a habit of I no longer chase perfect recipes and given I am looking online finding inspo on my favorite recipes, it is just that. The ones that feel right in the moment. Along with availability of home staples and ingredients.
It's fun to let flavor guide me: a little more sugar today, a dash of cinnamon tomorrow. If I can help it. A little secret, even my morning coffee has this sweet spice.
The joy isn't just in eating-it's in creating something I once only dreamed of.
Thank you for being here in reading this article post.
My heart is warm for you reading this and appreciate if you are like me who has something they like to make or bake with their favorite fruit. Or one of their favorite fruits at least. Would you please share in the comments?
